Perpetual Forager? Oui, c’est moi!
When am I not collecting? I am always collecting, and tucking away finds into brown boxes for a future art idea.
I should preface the art idea (above) as one I have seen before, from a beautiful artist, Norihiko Terayama, in an equally beautiful shoppe in downtown Toronto, Mjolk.
And I should admit to fully copying this idea.
My non-guilty claim to being a copycat is that I have legitimately foraged, plucked, yanked and trimmed each and every one of the natural finds from walks in our woods here on our property and in the Laurentians.
I have picked some very cool dried berries, straws, grasses, leaves, flowers and branches throughout the past two years since moving to the Laurentians. It began as something to look for when we were on our walks during lockdowns, but has turned into much more. The girls come back from their walks and adventures and bring me treasures too.
Is that not pure childhood magic?
I can already see the piece completed, and I know exactly where I’d like it to hang- in the Meeting House, near a waiting chair by the washroom. Something I imagine a guest at a wedding enjoying while they wait for their companion.
Till then.
